When I first joined Friends University Athletics, I never imagined the profound impact this community would have on my life. The opportunity to work with talented student-athletes and dedicated coaches and staff has been a privilege, and I am proud to be a part of this incredible institution.
As many of you know, I almost left Friends for another opportunity earlier this year. I am kind of embarrassed by all the attention it got but grateful for all the kind words. In this story, I want to share my journey as a member of the Friends University Athletics staff, the reasons why I chose to stay, and my hopes for the future.
One of the things that sets Friends University apart is the people. From the student-athletes to the coaches and administrators, I have had the privilege of working with some truly remarkable individuals. The dedication and passion they bring to their respective roles is inspiring, and it makes coming to work every day a joy. The student-athletes, in particular, have always been a source of motivation for me. Their hard work, determination, and love for their sports drive me to give my best every day.
And of course, I can’t forget about my incredible staff. I am fortunate to have a team of hardworking and dedicated individuals who will go above and beyond for our student-athletes. Kyler, Serena, Troy, and Snoop are the best. They are not only loyal and committed, but also genuinely passionate about what they do. Together, we strive to create an environment where our student-athletes can thrive both on and off the field. Kyler, Serena, Snoop, and Troy are the best.
A Decision to Stay
There was a time when I contemplated leaving Friends University for another opportunity this fall. However, as I weighed my options, I realized that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. The thought of leaving behind the relationships I had built and the impact I could continue to make at Friends was a difficult one to bear. In the end, I decided to stay because this university and its community mean too much to me.
It was hard to imagine not being a part anywhere but this special place.
As I look to the future, I have high hopes for Friends University Athletics. I want to see our athletic programs continue to grow and evolve, and becoming a force to be reckoned withe competitive in every sport. We have already made significant strides in expanding our facilities and improving our resources, but there is always room for growth. I am excited to be a part of that growth and to contribute to the success of our student-athletes.
My journey at Friends University Athletics has been a fulfilling and rewarding one for the past 23 years. The opportunity to work with incredible individuals, witness the growth of our athletic programs, and make an impact on the lives of student-athletes is a privilege I do not take for granted. As we continue to build upon the foundation we have laid, I am excited for the future and the legacy we will create together.
