Levi Convirs, the Sports Information Director at Friends University, has built an impressive career over the last 21 years.
It’s a career that has taken him to four different schools, given him countless experiences and relationships, and has helped him grow as a professional.
Yet, it’s his current position at Friends University that’s given him the most fulfillment, both as a professional and as a human being. Friends University has been and continues to be a place where Convirs’ Christian values and professional aspirations can thrive together.
“It just seemed like a perfect fit for me,” Convirs said. “The mission at Friends is just spectacular and goes hand in hand with what I want to do with my career.”
A big part of that mission is the family atmosphere that Friends University provides. Convirs knows how important it is to have a strong support system, and he’s found that in the coaches, staff, and administrators.
“It’s just a really, really good atmosphere to work at,” Convirs said. “I think you could look a long way and not find any place better to work at than Friends.”
Convirs’ passion for his work and his commitment to the Friends University community are evident. His efforts and dedication were recently rewarded when he was named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year. It’s an honor that reflects Convirs’ hard work and the impact he has on the Friends University community.

A Spiritual Journey
Convirs’ journey to Friends University began with a desire to work in sports.
His early career ambitions included sports broadcasting and journalism, but he discovered that working as a Sports Information Director (SID) allowed him to incorporate all of these interests into one role.
“I’ve been a sports fan basically all my life,” Convirs said. “Being able to cover sports as a career and give the fans what they want is a really spectacular honor.” While the love of sports initially drew him to the profession, it was his faith that guided him to Friends University.
“I feel like it’s my ministry,” Convirs said. “The Lord gives us desires in our hearts, and those go toward working for Him and leading people to Christ.” At Friends University, Convirs has found a place where he can live out his faith and use his talents to serve others.
“I don’t know if you could find a better fit spiritually,” Convirs said. “It’s a place where you can grow as a person, not just professionally.”

Continuing to Grow
As a Sports Information Director, Convirs is responsible for covering the games and providing information to the fans. It’s a job that requires a lot of work and dedication, but it’s also one that Convirs finds incredibly rewarding.
“My favorite part is the game days,” Convirs said. “There’s a lot of work that goes into it, but being a part of that atmosphere is awesome.”
Convirs is always looking for new ways to improve and grow in his role. He credits his previous experiences at other schools and the relationships he’s built with other SIDs for shaping his style and work ethic.
“I’ve learned a lot from each school I’ve been at,” Convirs said. “I take a little bit from each SID I’ve worked with, and I’m always looking for new ideas.”
At Friends University, Convirs is constantly looking for ways to market the school and get the information out to the fans. He’s part of a team that is always pushing forward and looking for ways to make Friends University a better place to work and grow.
“We’re constantly looking at new initiatives and projects,” Convirs said. “We don’t stay where we are. We’re always looking to get better.”
A PLACE TO CALL HOME
For Convirs, Friends University is not just a place to work; it’s a place to call home. It’s a place where he can live out his faith, use his talents to serve others, and be part of a supportive community. It’s a place where he can grow as a professional and as a person.
“I think this is a great place for student-athletes and coaches,” Convirs said. “I’m blessed that my family gets to be such a big part of what we do here. If you’re looking for a place to grow emotionally and spiritually, Friends University is the place to be.”
